Explaining God’s Golden Rule- Matthew 7:12
In Gospel of Matthew 7:12, Jesus gives what we call the Golden Rule:
โDo to others what you would have them do to you.โ
But there is something deeper happening hereโthis verse is closely connected to the principle of sowing and reaping, even though itโs not stated directly in those words.
๐ฑ The hidden picture: a farmer sowing seed
Think of your life like a field.
Every word you speakโฆ
Every action you takeโฆ
Every attitude you carryโฆ
โฆis a seed.
- Kindness is a seed
- Forgiveness is a seed
- Love is a seed
- Generosity is a seed
And just like a farmer:
You donโt reap firstโyou sow first.
๐พ The Golden Rule is telling you what to sow
Jesus is saying:
๐ If you want kindnessโsow kindness
๐ If you want mercyโsow mercy
๐ If you want loveโsow love
So instead of waiting for people to treat you rightโฆ
You plant the seed first.
๐ฟ Why this matters
In Godโs way of living:
- You cannot sow anger and expect peace
- You cannot sow selfishness and expect love
- You cannot sow harshness and expect kindness
Because:
The harvest always matches the seed.
๐ป The powerful truth
The Golden Rule is really this:
โSow into others the very thing you hope to receive.โ
Even if:
- They donโt respond right away
- They donโt deserve it
- They donโt give it back
You are still sowing into Godโs fieldโand God sees every seed.
ย And the harvest will come
Sometimes it comes through peopleโฆ
Sometimes it comes back in unexpected waysโฆ
Sometimes it comes from God Himselfโฆ
But it will come.
Because Godโs law is sure:
What you plant in love will never be wasted.
๐ In simple words
Matthew 7:12 is teaching:
Donโt wait for a harvestโ
Plant the kind of life you want to live.
