Professional Gossipers (Poem)

They smile so sweet and speak so fair,

Yet sharpened words are hidden there,

Like piranhas circling in the sea,

They feast on whispers secretly.

They hunt for tales, for fault, for shame,

To wound a soul, to stain a name,

Bite by bite, they tear apart,

The tender life, the fragile heart.

Like Judas Iscariot with silver in his hand,

They take what’s not theirs to command,

Not coins this time, but something more—

A person’s peace, their very core.

Yet Jesus spoke a better way,

Not words that wound, but truth to say,

“If there’s a fault, go speak in love,

With grace that flows from heaven above.”

For Calvary stands on one great word,

Forgiveness—pure, unseen, unheard,

Not spread abroad, not told again,

But washed away, removed from men.

But gossip spills what should be sealed,

What love would cover, now revealed,

And hearts are crushed beneath the sound,

Of careless tongues that wound so deep.

Oh tell me now, if God would choose,

To spread your faults, your hidden views,

Would you rejoice, or bow in fear,

If all your secrets were made clear?

For love is patient, love is kind,

It guards the heart, it shields the mind,

It does not seek to shame or tear,

But lifts the soul from dark despair.

A man once walked the narrow way,

Though falsely judged from words they say,

He bowed in prayer, he sought the Lord,

And chose obedience to His Word.

Though wronged by tongues that falsely cried,

He laid his hurt and crushed his pride,

Returned the cost, though not his due,

Because his heart to God was true.

And though the church may never know,

The seeds of grace that he did sow,

The heavens saw, the Lord approved,

A heart by Calvary truly moved.

So let us walk a higher call,

To build, not break—to stand, not fall,

For gossip kills, but love restores,

And heals the hearts it once outpours.
