A Prayer Still Heard

Within the temple, still and bright,

A priest stood clothed in sacred light,

With incense rising, soft and slow,

His prayers like fragrance seemed to flow.

Before the veil, in holy place,

He served the Lord with reverent grace,

A lifetime call, a moment rare,

To stand alone in solemn prayer.

Then suddenly, a shining flame,

An angel of the Lord there came,

Fear gripped his heart, his voice grew still,

“What have I done against His will?”

But words of peace the angel said,

“Fear not, thy prayer is heard,” he read,

A promise given, long delayed,

Not lost to time, nor cast away.

For years had passed, and hope grown dim,

Yet God had still remembered him,

Though age had whispered, “It is done,”

The Lord declared, “You’ll have a son.”

O weary soul, take heart today,

Though answers seem so far away,

No prayer you’ve prayed is ever lost,

Though silence lingers, count the cost.

For heaven keeps each tear you’ve cried,

Each whispered plea you’ve tried to hide,

And in God’s time—so perfect, true,

He answers more than we could view.

So wait on Him, do not despair,

The Lord still listens to your prayer,

Though not yet answered, understand—

It rests secure in God’s own hand.
