Poem -Psalm Chapter 8
A Rhyming Poem on Psalm 8
O Lord, our Lord, how great Thou art,
Thy name resounds in every part,
From highest heavens to earth below,
Thy glory shines, Thy wonders show.
The moon and stars, the work of Thee,
Hung in the vast infinity,
Each light obeys Thy sovereign hand,
Each placed by Thy divine command.
And yet, O Lord, I stand and say,
Why think of man, so frail as clay?
So small beneath the endless sky,
So quick to live, so soon to die.
But still Thou lookest down in grace,
And liftest man to honoured place,
With glory crowned, with purpose given,
A touch of earth, a breath of heaven.
All beasts and birds, the fish, the sea,
Are placed beneath his dignity,
For Thou hast made him for Thy will,
And called him Thy creation still.
Yet we have wandered, turned aside,
In foolish strength, in human pride,
But Christ has come, the perfect Son,
To finish what we left undone.
Now through His love, we rise again,
Restored from loss, released from sin,
And once more lift our hearts on high,
To praise the Lord above the sky.
O Lord, our Lord, let all proclaim,
The power and beauty of Thy name,
From earth to heaven let voices cryโ
How great Thou art, O Lord Most High!
