Poem Psalm 5

Psalm 5 โ€” A Rhyming Poem

In the morning, Lord, I call to Thee,
Before the day lays hold on me,
With whispered prayer and longing sigh,
I lift my heart and look on high.

Give ear, O God, to words I bring,
My voice to You, my Lord, my King,
Not just the words my lips may say,
But thoughts that rise and drift Your way.

For You are holy, pure, and true,
No evil can abide with You,
The proud shall fall, the false shall fade,
No lie can stand, no sin be stayed.

Yet I draw near, not by my own,
But by Your mercy, grace alone,
With reverence deep, I bow the knee,
For You have made a way for me.

O lead me, Lord, in paths made right,
When wrong surrounds and dims my sight,
Make straight the road before my feet,
Where truth and righteousness both meet.

For voices smooth may lead astray,
With words that charm yet hearts betray,
Their tongues are soft, their hearts unclean,
A hidden snare lies in between.

But let all those who trust in You,
Find joy that rises fresh and new,
Let them rejoice both day and night,
Held safely in Your holy light.

For You, O Lord, will bless the just,
The ones who place in You their trust,
And like a shield, both strong and sure,
Your favour keeps them safe, secure.

So in the morning I will stand,
My life held firmly in Your hand,
No fear shall shake, no doubt destroyโ€”
For trust in You becomes my joy.
