Poem -No See-Hear Say

The Perfect Person

The saying youโ€™re thinking of is usually remembered in this order:
โ€œSee no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.โ€
(Though sometimes people swap the first two aroundโ€”the meaning stays the same.)

Hereโ€™s a poem that brings out the message behind it:

See, Hear, Speak

See no evil before your eyes,
Guard your heart from false disguise,
For what we gaze on shapes the soul,
And slowly takes its hidden toll.

Hear no evil whispered near,
Turn away the tempting ear,
For poison wrapped in gentle tone,
Can harden hearts like silent stone.

Speak no evil from your tongue,
Let no bitter word be flung,
For once it leaves, it cannot stay,
But wounds a heart along its way.

See whatโ€™s pure and good and right,
Fill your eyes with truth and light,
Hear what builds and lifts the weak,
Let kindness be the words you speak.

For life and death in words are found,
In what we see and hear around,
So guard them wellโ€”these gates of three,
And walk in truth, and youโ€™ll be free.
