Story inspired by Psalm 10
A Story Based on Psalm 10 โ โThe Silent Streetโ
There was a narrow street in a small town where people used to laugh.
Children once played there, neighbours once cared for one another, and doors were never locked. But over time, things changed.
A group of powerful men began to rise in the town. They spoke smoothly, dressed well, and made promisesโbut their hearts were different from their words. Quietly, they took what was not theirs. They used others to build their own comfort. And when anyone stood in their way, they found a way to push them aside.
At first, people didnโt notice. But soon, the poor began to suffer.
Old Mrs. Hensley lost her home through a trick she didnโt understand. A young man named Daniel lost his job because he refused to lie. A single mother was promised help but was left with nothing but debt. One by one, people were hurtโnot by accident, but by design.
And those responsible? They laughed.
They sat together and said,
โNothing will happen to us. We are too clever.โ
โGod doesnโt see.โ
โEven if He does, He doesnโt care.โ
Their words spread like poison.
Soon, even the hurting began to believe it.
Daniel, sitting alone one night, whispered,
โMaybe theyโre rightโฆ maybe God isnโt bothered.โ
The street grew quieter. Hope faded. Fear took its place.
But one evening, something changed.
A frail man, who had watched everything in silence, stood at the centre of the street. His voice was not loud, but it carried weight.
He said,
โYou think no one sees. You think no one cares. But the God you mock has seen every tear, every lie, every hidden act. You may hide from peopleโbut you cannot hide from Him.โ
The men laughed again, louder this time.
But something had already begun to shift.
One by one, truth started to surface. Deals unravelled. Lies were exposed. What had been hidden came into the light. The very traps they had set for others began to close in on them.
And the people who had been crushed?
They slowly began to stand again.
Mrs. Hensley was helped by neighbours who once feared to speak.
The young man found honest work through those who valued truth.
The mother found support from unexpected hands.
It wasnโt instant. It wasnโt easy. But it was real.
Daniel looked up one morning and said,
โGod was never silentโฆ He was watching all along.โ
And the street, once filled with fear, began to breathe again.
The Truth of the Story
The wicked may think:
โGod does not see. God does not care.โ
But Psalm 10 reminds us:
๐ God sees what others hide.
๐ God hears the cry of the hurting.
๐ And in His time, He brings justice.
Even when it feels like He is far awayโ
He is nearer than we think.
