The People Who Only Took

There was once a small church in a quiet town. The people gathered every Sunday, sang the hymns, and listened to the Wordโ€”but something was missing.

They were always askingโ€ฆ

but seldom giving.

๐Ÿก The Complaining Spirit

One day, a visiting pastor came to preach. He spoke plainly, yet with love. After the service, he sat with a few members who began to complain:

โ€œThe seats are too hard.โ€

โ€œThe singing is too slow.โ€

โ€œThe sermon was too long.โ€

The pastor listened quietly, then smiled and said:

โ€œDo you know something? If we took some people and placed them in Buckingham Palace, they would still complain about the wallpaper.โ€

The room fell silent.

๐Ÿ“– The Mirror of Scripture

The pastor opened his Bible and read:

โ€œAll they do is grumble and complainโ€ฆโ€ โ€” Jude 1:16

Then he turned again:

โ€œIt is more blessed to give than to receive.โ€ โ€” Acts 20:35

And again:

โ€œFreely ye have received, freely give.โ€ โ€” Matthew 10:8

He looked at them and said gently:

โ€œYou have received so muchโ€”grace, forgiveness, life, and hope.

But your hearts have grown used to takingโ€ฆ and forgotten how to give.โ€

๐ŸŒฟ A Changed Heart

Among those listening was a man named Thomas. He had been one of the loudest complainers.

That night, he went home uneasy.

He thought of all God had done for himโ€”

how he had been forgiven, helped, and carried through hard times.

And yetโ€ฆ he had only found fault.

He bowed his head and prayed:

โ€œLord, forgive me. I have taken so much and given so little.โ€

โœจ A New Beginning

The next Sunday, something was different.

Thomas arrived earlyโ€”not to complain, but to help.

He greeted people at the door.

He encouraged the young.

He thanked the pastor.

And slowly, others began to notice.

The spirit in the church began to changeโ€”not because the building improvedโ€ฆ

but because the hearts did.

๐Ÿ’ก The Message

Some people will always find faultโ€”

even in the finest place on earth.

But the child of God is called to something higher:

  • Not just to receiveโ€”but to give
  • Not just to criticiseโ€”but to build
  • Not just to takeโ€”but to bless

๐Ÿ™ Final Thought

A thankful heart sees beauty even in little things.

A complaining heart finds fault even in the best.

So let us not be those who only takeโ€”

but those who give, as Christ gave.

God is a good God โ€” God knows, God loves, and God cares. ๐ŸŒฟ
